Bird Control
Greenleaf Pest Control combine all the modern methods of bird control with traditional, country methods learnt over the years. We can provide you with professional and effective bird control, bird proofing, bird removal and waste clearance solutions, no matter what the situation.
Bird Control
Wildlife Legislation protects all birds, and the laws on bird control keep changing. Animal Welfare laws apply to bird control too. And, working with birds and clearing their waste can be hazardous to human health. You can trust us to do bird control legally, humanely and safely. With our specialist qualifications and backgrounds in game-keeping, we really are experts.
Don’t let a bird problem get out of hand because they could harm your health, property or business. If in doubt, ring or email us for professional pest control advice on how to control birds and get rid of birds. Or maybe our guide to nuisance birds can help.
How legislation affects bird control and bird proofing
All birds and their nests, eggs and young are protected by The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. However, some birds are classed legally as Pest Birds because they use our buildings for shelter, scavenge for food, eat crops and cause danger at airports, gather in groups to nest and feed, are noisy and aggressive, carry disease and insect infestations, produce filth and debris that damage buildings and are a risk to public health and safety.
The law is very specific though on when and how pest birds can be controlled. The law changes yearly so what was legal one year could be illegal the next; the laws vary across the UK too. Always get professional pest control advice when it comes to bird control and bird proofing, otherwise you could end up in court for committing Wildlife Crime.
Bird Spikes, Wires, Netting and Mesh
Installing Bird Spikes, Wires, Netting and Mesh are four effective ways of protecting your property and particularly work well against Pigeon and Seagulls.
Bird spikes and wires prevent birds from landing on surfaces with netting and mesh preventing birds from accessing an area, such as under solar panels. It is often a combination of these methods along with other hysical deterrents like daddy longlegs & prickle strips being the solution.
Other bird control methods
At Greenleaf, we are able to draw upon the latest methods of bird control such as ‘Bird Free’ Optical Gel; a new product available from experts in bird control and the Avishock electrical deterrent system.
Our years of experience include the more traditional methods using sound and sight deterrents, hawking, kites, decoy deterrents. Nesting interference using egg oiling and replacement and nest disturbance. Removal by cage trapping, landing nets and shooting.
